Your students will spend half of their week doing practical on-the-job experience under your supervision, learning first-hand the tools of your trade. For the other half of their week, apprentices perform classwork, where a lecturer teaches them theory in your field. As a Workplace Trainer, you will be coordinating students through some of their first industry work; through their education, you will get to see them become young professionals in plumbing.
What do Plumbing Courses Involve?
The duration of a Plumbing Apprenticeship can vary between 2-5 years depending on the level of qualification you have and teach. Level 1 takes a year, and some Level 3 courses take up to 4 years.
Level 1 Plumbing Courses cover early on-site skills. Most jobs will be in homes fixing water pipes, learning cutting techniques, and Health and Safety rules.
Level 2 Plumbing Courses cover more advanced topics such as electrical principles, heating systems and the repair of different piping materials.
Level 3 Plumbing Courses cover the commissioning, installation, and maintaining of diverse projects. Preparing these high-level Apprentices for freelance work and business management skills within Plumbing work.
Each course culminates in your Apprentice bringing the skills you taught to the rest of their Plumbing career.
